Through simple experiments, we may not stumble upon the cure for cancer, but we might find a way to live better.
Here in the US, today is the 4th of July, also known as Independence Day.
Some celebrate by commemorating the day when the colonies declared themselves as a new nation, free from the British Empire. Others celebrate with fireworks and barbecues with family and friends. Then you have the weird, unusual people that celebrate in an different way.
Enter this guy.
I’ll be celebrating the 4th of July the entire month and calling it my independence from eating animals. While some vegans choose this lifestyle because they disagree with killing animals for food and believe that a diet void of animal products is a healthier choice, I’m simply switching to a plant-based diet until August 1st in order to prove to myself that I can go without something that’s been such a big part of my life.
I believe doing a little experiment like this is a great way to:
- Practice curiosity by seeing some part of your life in a different way
- Improve your life or someone else’s
- Prove that you can do something you never thought you could do
- And inspire people by showing what’s possible
How about you — is there something you’ve been dying to try?

I’m off to go grocery shopping!
